I loved everything about my experience. The manager took care of changing my room, I'm disabled in a wheelchair, and she went above and beyond to give me a room that would be extremely comfortable and accessible in the Marriott Residence Inn next door ( affiliated with the Marriott Fairfield ). So the hotel and room I'm reviewing above is for the Residence Inn.

The breakfast is good, a step above your typical hotel continental breakfast. They have waffle makers out where you can make your own waffles which was pretty neat.

Loved the location: in residential/commercial neighborhood, so convenient for eating options and for just walking around. Very spacious apartment, easy street parking close to door, good wifi. close to railriders baseball stadium. Host very accommodating to relatively last minute changes, much more reasonable to deal with than booking.com which didn't want to honor their own time frame for changes.

The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was good lots of choices. The women in the kitchen should get a pat on the back for how hard she worked the first morning we were there.

Scranton was a great place to visit.
Scranton was a great place to visit. Our stay was going well until the evening before our last day my 8 year old nephew was called a racist word by some young white men standing in the hallway of our hotel. He turned the corner of the hallway ahead of us headed to our room and when he turned the corner someone from the group looked at him and said "It's only a ni××××". They may have assumed he was alone. My nephew has never experienced anything like that before and it was upsetting.

We are only on a road-trip overnighter this time but on a previous trip to Scranton I came primarily for the railroad and coal history in the area. Beyond my limited interests, I can't say it's much of a tourist destination (other than for fans of "The Office " TV show). However, it could be considered as a steppingstone to the Poconos mountains area.

Lived there prior. We were in town for a family funeral. Scranton is a good place to be from. Not entirely sure, if all would see it in the same light as we do. However, from a historical perspective, the reflections of the railroad and mining industry still present possibly offers some interesting insight and information.

Visited for a tour of 'The Office' landmarks and mentions.
Visited for a tour of 'The Office' landmarks and mentions. Very cool city with lots of interesting and historic architecture. Interesting Steam locomotive museum in town.
The Glider Diner has an excellent breakfast for a bargain and Coopers seafood is an awesome spot for supper with tons of memorabilia and an extreme selection of beer available.
The streets in town are poorly labeled and riddled with potholes but otherwise navigation was pretty straightforward.
We were road weary and pleasantly surprised how easy the hotel was to find off the highway. We were greeted very pleasantly at check in and much to our surprise, upon arrival to our room we received a text to ensure the room was satisfactory from the front desk. The property is very clean, smells clean - the bed was comfortable and we would definitely stay here again. Thank you.
We stayed one night on our way north. The hotel is easy to locate next to I81. The room is a nice size with desk and couch. It had a microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom has 2 sinks, one on the outside of the bathroom and the other in the bathroom. Could be usefull but we didn't use the outside one. The shower had good pressure. The bed was very comfortable.
we got here super late ~ but the front desk come out Immediately! it’s a nice Gentlemen:) the room is super comfy I like the design too~ feel like home. the breakfast have more then I thought. the most hotel or just few or canceled…. I really enjoy stay here. I’m looking for somewhere close to my work to stay 2night per week. I think this is a good choice ~
The room was a decent size, and we made use of the mini fridge. The beds were comfortable. We utilized the pool, hot tub and fitness center. The hotel was on the route of the shuttle bus for the music festival we were attending at Montage Mountain, so that was a major plus and most of the reason that my rating isn't lower. The staff were polite.
Location is great! Pool and hot tub was a great bonus! The kids loved it! We were here two nights before and that room was very clean and large. The staff! They are helpful and friendly. Why we came back for another night! Dining/ community area clean and very inviting.
The fact that this hotel use to be a train station made it very interesting. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays! The Pub had excellent food and great customer service as well. Very enjoyable!
The facilities and the restaurant were amazing. The hotel itself was very clean, but our room looked like it could have done with a little more attention. The room was very comfortable.
Room: has a terrible smell, could ear neighbors conversation and TV. Heater unit does not work property. Room furniture was in very bad shape. This hotel should be shut down.
Very expensive night for an average room. I suspect the room rate was elevated because of the Scranton University graduation. Hotel was nice, but not worth $400+ a night!
The grab and go breakfast is very nice. The hotel was clean. The variety at breakfast was very good. Various juices and coffee. Room was very clean and well supplied.
